WHAT birds, if any, favour walnuts and cobnuts?

The question is prompted by news that an 8.3-acre nut commercial orchard has come on the market in Suffolk.

The agents are Woodlands.co.uk who say Finesteda Wood, at Boxted near Sudbury, is of "of international importance". 

They continue: "The walnuts trees are crop-producing with a harvest of nuts. 

"Also a fenced area has been planted with cobnuts to give a second crop."

"This important woodland environment is protected by a Tree Preservation Order but this does not preclude the process of normal woodland management.

"It simply requires that all proposals are approved in advance by the local authority."

No information is provided about the birds that dwell in the wood, but there is a line in the sales literature which states: "It is amazing how much wildlife uses the woodland as a sanctuary."

The asking price is £159,000.
