The hammer came down at £600 on an impressive collection of wildlife books that formed one of the lots in an auction conducted by Tennants of Leyburn in Yorkshire. It included 129 volumes from the Collins New Naturalist series in a broken run, together with 14 volumes from the New Naturalist Monographs. The pre-sale estimate was that the books would sell for between £500 and £1,000.
