WHY BROADCASTER SIMON KING BANGS DRUM FOR PROPOSED SPURN VISITOR CENTRE

Simon King - important to make Spurn feel  'comfortable'

CELEBRITY naturalist and broadcaster Simon King OBE is helping to champion the cause of the proposed visitor centre.

This is unsurprising given that he is national president of the wildlife trusts - parent body of the YWT, the organisation which has applied to build the centre.

Although he has not submitted any comment to the East Riding planning department, the high-profile photographer and author has made a YouTube video expressly in order to bang the drum for the application.

In it, he says: "Anything that makes Spurn feel comfortable, familiar, accessible and  safe, then  that's  a good thing.

"I wholeheartedly endorse the introduction of this fine visitor centre at Spurn National Nature Reserve.

"It will blend beautifully into the landscape and proffer educational facilities and resource.

"It will be a gateway to the  greater Spurn national nature reserve and help everyone feel a sense of welcome, of wellbeing and of safety on their visit.

"I support it 100 percent - I hope you do, too."
