Newspaper columnist blasts 'farcical' decision to put Disneyland-style theme park proposal on hold

Artist's impression of how proposed theme park might look

A NATIONAL newspaper columnist has today claimed that planning laws "routinely prioritise the interests of wildlife over the interests of human beings".

Writing in The Daily Telegraph, Michal Deacon cites, as an example, a situation at Swanscombe Peninsula near his home in North Kent where wildlife groups have been lobbying against proposals for a Disneyland-style theme park.

The initial application was withdrawn in spring, but a revised scheme is expected to come forward later this year.

Deacon describes the delay as "farcical".
