Memo to fiction publishers - if in doubt, put an image of a bird on the front cover

                                                    

                                                        

TWO of the books on the 13-title longlist for this year's Booker Prize for fiction include images of birds on their cover.

The species on  All the Little-Bird Hearts by Viktoria Lloyd-Barlow is readily identifiable, but what about the sad creature, on Sarah Bernstein's Study for Obedience?

Any suggestions?
