At this time of year, skeins of clamorous pinkfooted geese are a familiar sight and sound over many British estuaries. This is a watercolour study (35.5cm x 51.5cm) by Rodger McPhail (born 1953) of a scene at at an unknown location. It is expected to fetch between £250 and £400 when it goes under the hammer in a sale of British, European and Sporting Art to be held by auction house Tennants of Leyburn, Yorkshire on November 11.
